Summertime is the perfect opportunity to advance every child’s learning in a fun, relaxed environment.  The Osceola School District will be offering a number of programs for students in all grade levels this summer as enrichment opportunities.  Programs to be offered include:





Summer Bridge STEAM Enrichment Camp

Cost: FREE

Grade Level in the 2016-2017 school year: Kindergarten – Grade 5

Description: This hands-on program, based on Florida standards, integrates research-based teaching methods with fun, creative activities in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math, and Sports to increase the development of reading and math skills and decrease summer learning loss.

Locations: Central Avenue Elementary, Highlands Elementary, Poinciana Academy of Fine Arts, Deerwood Elementary, Thacker Avenue Elementary for International Studies, and Ventura Elementary

Dates: Mondays – Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on 6/12 – 7/20 (No camp the week of 7/3)

Osceola Young Scholars’ Academy

Cost: FREE

Grade Level in the 2016-2017 school year: Kindergarten – Grade 8 – Gifted/high-achieving students

Description: Students learn to work collaboratively to deal with “messy” situations to develop creative, innovative solutions.

Locations: Pleasant Hill Elementary

Dates: Monday – Thursday from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on 6/5 – 6/8

Environmental Center Swamp Site

Cost: FREE

Grade Level in the 2017-2018 school year: Grade 4

Description: Students will engage in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) and environmental activities on such topics as force and motion, scientific methods, and adaptations to scrub habitats.

Location: Environmental Center, Poinciana

Dates: Mondays – Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on 6/6 – 6/16

Discovery Education STEM Camp

Cost: FREE

Grade Level in the 2017-2018 school year: Grades 6-8

Description: Students will be highly engaged in Discovery Education STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) units.

Location: Discovery Intermediate

Dates: Monday – Thursday from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on 6/12 – 6/15

Fifth to Sixth Grade Transition Camp – AVID

Cost: FREE

Grade Level in the 2017-2018 school year: Grade 6

Description: This camp supports students transitioning from fifth to sixth grade.  They will attend their home-zoned middle school, and participate in activities to orient them to middle school core courses.  Students will also be exposed to AVID strategies for success.

Locations: all middle schools

Dates: Monday – Thursday from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on 7/24 – 7/27

Middle School Summer Camp for Enrichment and Support

Cost: FREE

Grade Level in the 2017-2018 school year: Grade 6-8

Description: This camp is a districtwide choice program to provide an extended learning opportunity for middle school students to enrich and enhance skills in reading, mathematics, and science through exciting project-based learning as well as blended learning with technology, small group instruction, and hands-on labs. 

Locations: Denn John Middle School, Discovery Intermediate, Horizon Middle School, Neptune Middle School, Saint Cloud Middle School, Westside K-8 School 

*All choice locations, except Discovery, also offer the YMCA Summer Program as a full day camp--consider for after care

Pre-Algebra to Algebra Boot Camp

Cost: FREE

Grade Level in the 2017-2018 school year: Grades 7 and 8 – Students entering high school Algebra course in middle school.

Description: This camp will support students transitioning from Pre-Algebra to high school Algebra course in middle school.  They will attend their home-zoned middle school, and participate in activities to provide a jump-start to help ensure success in Algebra during the regular school year.

Dates: Monday – Thursday from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on 7/24 – 7/27

Exploring the Arts Camp

Cost: FREE

Grade Level in the 2017-2018 school year: Grades 6-8

Description: This program provides students with the opportunity to explore a variety of the arts on a rotation to include visual, instrumental, choral, dramatic arts, and more.

Locations: Kissimmee Middle and Narcoossee Middle

Dates: Monday – Thursday from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on 7/24 – 7/27

Osceola TIPS

Cost: $100

Grade Level: Grade 7 – Top 10% of current year seventh graders

Description: The goal of the Osceola TIPS Camp is to offer the district’s top students the chance to work with their intellectual peers and to be on the path as an academically-competitive college applicant.

Location: Osceola High

Dates: Monday – Thursday from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on 6/5 – 6/8

Geometry Honors

Cost: FREE

Grade Level in the 2017-2018 school year: Grade 9 – Incoming high-performing ninth graders who have passed Algebra end-of-course exam

Description: This course is offered for students entering high school who seek acceleration in their math course.

Location: Osceola County School for the Arts

Dates: Mondays – Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. on 6/5 - 6/29 and 7/3- 7/13

Math, The Universal Language

Cost: FREE

Grade Level in the 2017-2018 school year: Grade 9 – Ninth grade Algebra students

Description: Students will explore the world around them through the mathematical lens of engaging activities that will provide a jump-start to high school Algebra.

Locations: Harmony High School, St. Cloud High School, Osceola High School, Gateway High School, Liberty High School, Poinciana High School and Celebration High School

Dates: Mondays – Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on  7/10 - 7/20

CLEP Camp

Cost: FREE

Grade Level in the 2017-2018 school year: Grades 10-12 – Select students will receive an invitation with a registration link

Description: Students who earned a Level 2 in AP US History, AP English Language, AP Psychology, and AP Spanish Language will have an opportunity to obtain college credit by taking the CLEP Exam.

Students will receive invitation once AP Exam scores are released indicating dates, times, and location.

Location: Osceola High

Dates: Monday – Thursday from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on 7/17 – 7/19 (Tests to be taken on 7/20) *dates may change depending on College Board AP exam score release.

High Tech U

Cost: FREE

Grade Level in the 2017-2018 school year: Grades 9-12 – High school students interested in high-tech careers

Description: This is a three-day program for high school students who want to know more about careers in the tech industry.  Students will put science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) skills to use during hands-on workshops led by industry volunteers.

Locations: TBD

Dates: Tuesday - Thursday  from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on 6/13 - 6/15
