 School Library
The local school Media Specialist, also known as the Library Information Specialist (LIS), is an integral part of the effort to teach age-
appropriate library information skills to the students in the school district.

The school-based LIS encourages students in reading for understanding and enjoyment, and ensures a library media program that supports the teachers
and their teaching of the curriculum.

Professional resources for teachers and technical assistance with software programs and computer hardware are provided at the school level by the LIS and Technology Contact.

Proper use of the information obtained by a student while doing research is as important as the source from which it is taken.  The Media and Instructional Technology Department provides subscription services with authoritative electronic databases. These resources are available to students in the Osceola County School District and are provided for curricular enrichment purposes.  See the Digital Resources, K-12 Students link to access these research and reference tools. The school Library Information Specialist will furnish user names and passwords to students for these resources upon request.

It becomes more apparent every day that students are the digital "natives".  Students in the School District of Osceola County are offered every opportunity to become successful learners in this digital age.  Teachers, administrators and staff must accelerate their learning as well.  Technology Resource Teachers  in the   Media and Instructional Technology Department provide expert coaching for classroom teachers.  Hundreds of hours of training are offered to teachers across the District annually to assist with technology integration.
