The School District of Osceola County
    Accreditation 2023

The School District of Osceola County will be working through a rigorous process of District Accreditation in 2022-2023 through the accreditation agency Cognia™. Cognia is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that accredits districts throughout the United States and internationally.

Accreditation is a method of quality assurance designed primarily to distinguish institutions adhering to a set of educational standards and policies.

Cognia™ Performance Accreditation uses research-based standards and evaluative criteria to examine a whole district—the policies, programs, practices, learning conditions, and cultural context—to determine how well the parts work together to carry out the district’s vision. The accreditation experience includes both self-assessment and evaluation from professional evaluators. A mark of excellence Cognia Accreditation is a designation of quality recognized around the world. It is awarded by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), the Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC), and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI). Together, these organizations have been accrediting institutions for more than 125 years. Cognia District Accreditation earns recognition for a commitment to continuous improvement across all district schools.
The advantage of using the Cognia system accreditation model encourages one shared vision of continuous improvement and a common language of improvement to increase efficiency and effectiveness. With the system accreditation process, the district will:
    • Determine how well components work together to meet student's needs
    • Increase transparency and buy-in of processes and policies
    • Enhance communication and collaboration across teams
    • Improve equitable management of human and fiscal resources
    • Engage teams in targeted training and professional development
    • Set strategic direction based on system-wide data

Overall district accreditation provides pivotal insights to help set improvement priorities, and ongoing support to elevate the district’s quality and commitment to continuous improvement.
