The Osceola School District, a “B” rated school district that is on its way to an “A”, is in the heart of Central Florida with schools in Celebration, Kissimmee, St. Cloud, Poinciana, Harmony, and Kenansville. The district provides academic instruction, rigor, and support each school day to more than 81,000 students in kindergarten through 12th grade in 52 schools and 25 charter schools and offers adult education. The heart of the district remains the over 8,000 dedicated employees who work tirelessly to provide every child, every chance, every day. Since 2016, Dr. Debra Pace has served as Superintendent of the Osceola School District and will retire in June 2023 so the district is searching for its next innovative leader.

Required
- Master’s Degree from an accredited institution
- Ten (10) years of successful administrative/leadership experience in education or business
Preferred
- Doctorate Degree from an accredited institution
- Experience in a district with 10,000 or more students
- Experience as a teacher, school based, or district level leader
- Successful experience in a multicultural school district
- Broad based understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
Contract length & Salary
The School Board of Osceola County, Florida is prepared to offer up to a three-year contract with a salary range of $215,000 – $300,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications, plus competitive benefits, and incentives. Candidates selected as finalists must be available for on-site interviews on June 5 and 6, 2023. The position start date and transition period will be subject to contract negotiations with the School Board.

Based on feedback from the: Board Pre-search Interview, the Thought Exchange Survey responses, Community Forums, and the Employee Focus Groups, the School District of Osceola County is in search of an educational leader who demonstrates the following leadership qualities, skills, and abilities to serve as the next School Superintendent.
- Collaborates with law enforcement to ensure safe and orderly schools, school campuses and all district work sites.
- Demonstrates recent success in leading academic improvement in Reading and Math, as well as closing the achievement gaps.
- Ensures that ESE, 504, ELL and Title I students’, teachers’, and parents’ needs are met.
- Continues to strengthen Early Learning Programs to improve the Kindergarten Readiness Rate.
- Holds self and employees to impeccable standards of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
- Success developing, implementing, and consistently enforcing a Student Code of Conduct.
- Accessible and approachable, listens to teachers, staff, parents, and the community and is willing to visit schools and classrooms and attend student activities.
- Collaborates with the School Board to understand and lead from the district’s Strategic Plan and its associated accountability measures.
- Visionary and focused on the future yet honors past traditions.
- Experience implementing and supporting choice, including magnet programs and the free college and career opportunities available to students.
- Understands the challenges teachers face on a regular basis and shows support and appreciation for those teaching.
- Demonstrates success working with parents and students of different multi-cultural backgrounds, as well as Osceola’s unique communities.
- Experience addressing controversial issues and building consensus among Board Members to address such concerns.
- Past experience analyzing budgets to find ways to increase salaries and benefits for teachers and support staff.
- Demonstrates experience in business operations including finance, maintenance, construction, transportation and food service.
- Demonstrates knowledge of a fast-growing school district where new school planning and older school renovation are a continual process.
- Builds and maintains an open, honest, trusting relationship with the School Board, school and district level leaders, teachers, support staff, parents, and students.
- Works with legislators, county and city governments, and educational and business leaders to imagine unique and applicable educational opportunities for students and teachers.
- Practices transparency and operates without conflicts of interest.
- Advocates for the success of the “whole child” including mental health, academics, arts, athletics, and extracurricular activities.
- Demonstrates success in creating innovative programs that successfully recruit and retain teachers and staff.
- Familiar with the latest technologies and their abilities to enhance educational opportunities for students.
- Is the face of the district and promotes business partnerships and community engagement.

The Osceola County School Board Welcomes Community Input In The Process
Students, parents, school district employees, and all Osceola County residents are encouraged to participate in the following community outreach efforts:
- Between February 8 through March 3, 2023, individuals can log on to the district's ThoughtExchange online platform to provide responses to the following questions: What are the district’s greatest challenges and opportunities, and what skills will the next Superintendent need to address them?
Participants will then have the ability to rate other people's anonymous thoughts with one to five stars, indicating the level of agreement with each statement. The link to access the ThoughtExchange question can be found at Superintendent Search ThoughtExchange. Stakeholders have the option of viewing, responding to, and rating responses to the ThoughtExchange questions in a number of different languages.
- All stakeholders are invited to attend any of the following Superintendent Search Community Forums:
- NeoCity Academy - February 27 at 6:00 p.m. in the mixer space
- Poinciana High - February 28 at 7:00 p.m. in the Business Academy
- Celebration High - March 1 at 10:00 a.m. in the media center
- St. Cloud High - March 2 at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria
Participants in attendance will provide input on what the new Superintendent should continue as it is working well in the district, what will be his or her challenges in the Osceola School District, and what qualifications and qualities should the new Superintendent have for success in the position.
