Superintendent's Message
For the 2018-2019 school year, our focus will remain on providing every child every chance every day. As we have finished year two of the district’s strategic plan, I am extremely proud of the progress the district is making on its journey from good to great. Gains in student achievement and high school acceleration last school year were reflected in the district maintaining or increasing in nine of the eleven accountability formula components from the state, and the district moving closer to an “A” letter grade from a “B.” The district’s continuous improvement goals for academic success are laser-focused on high expectations for student learning outcomes at every level, teacher quality, leadership effectiveness, community engagement, and parent involvement.

Two new Osceola schools have opened their doors for the first time to students in the 2018-2019 school year. Tohopekaliga High is a comprehensive high school centered around STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, The Arts, and Math), located off Boggy Creek Road in Kissimmee. NeoCity Academy, which will be housed its first year at Gateway High, is a true partnership between the Osceola School District, the University of Central Florida, and industry partner, BRIDG. I am confident that both schools will provide outstanding educational experiences for students as we prepare them to be contributing 21st Century citizens.

We remain mindful of the importance of student safety and the critical role we all play to ensure schools are safe places to learn and work. Outstanding partnerships with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Department, the Kissimmee Police Department, and the St. Cloud Police Department are in place to ensure that every Osceola elementary and middle school has a dedicated School Resource Officer and every high school has two School Resource Officers for this upcoming school year. All schools across the district have substantial and confidential safety measures in place. I remind students and parents that if they see something or hear something that may be a threat to please say something as we will listen and respond.

The Osceola County School Board joins me in extending best wishes to students, parents, and families for a productive school year filled with many opportunities and accomplishments. Thanks to the support of the community and parents, we are confident that our schools will continue to be highly successful. Working together, we will inspire student success and a lifetime of learning in Osceola County.
