Summer is the perfect time to advance every child’s learning in a fun and engaging environment! The Osceola School District will be offering a number of programs for students this summer as enrichment opportunities. Programs to be offered include:

Third Grade Reading Summer Camp

Cost: FREE

Grade Level in the 2018-2019 school year: Current Grade 3 students

Description: Third grade students who score a Level 1 on the FSA and do not qualify for a Good Cause Exemption attend Reading Camp to receive intensive reading instruction and continue to complete their portfolio.

 

Target Audience: Current 3rd grade students who scored a Level 1 on the 2019 ELA FSA


Locations: Third grade students who score a Level 1 may attend the Third Grade Reading Summer Camp at any of these locations: Boggy Creek Elementary, Central Avenue Elementary, Deerwood Elementary,  Highlands Elementary,Koa Elementary, Michigan Avenue Elementary, Narcoossee Elementary, Thacker Avenue Elementary, Westside K8

Dates/Times: (8:00-12:00) 6/3/19- 6/27/19 (Monday thru Thursday)

To Register: School staff will provide the registration to students who are eligible for this opportunity.

 


PreKindergarten Summer Camp


Cost: 50.00 weekly fee paid on-line or at the 1200 Vermont Ave. office (registration fee may apply)

Grade Level in the 2018-2019 school year: VPK (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten)

Description: The Pre-Kindergarten Summer Camp provides a safe and nurturing environment for our Prekindergarten students to be ready for kindergarten.

 

Target Audience: Parents in need of childcare to prevent the summer slide


Locations: Thacker Avenue Elementary School

Dates/Times: (7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.) 6/3/19-6/27/19 (Monday-Thursday)

To Register: Parents may register their child at the Extended Learning office located at 1200 Vermont Ave., St. Cloud.

 


VPK (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten)


Cost: FREE!

Grade Level in the 2018-2019 school year: VPK (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten)

Description: Summer VPK (Voluntary PreKindergarten) provide a safe and nurturing environment for our Pre-kindergarten students to be ready for kindergarten

 

Target Audience: Students that have not attended full year VPK


Locations: Thacker Avenue Elementary School

Dates/Times: (7:00 a.m.-4:15 p.m.) 6/5/19-7/30/19 (Monday-Thursday) (no class July 4)

To Register: Parents may register their child at the Extended Learning office located at 1200 Vermont Ave., St. Cloud.

 


Summer 21st Century Program


Cost: FREE!

Grade Level in the 2018-2019 school year: Kindergarten - 5th grade students

Description: The Summer 21st Century Program provides students youth development activities, service learning, nutrition and health education. Programs may offer art, music, physical fitness and wellness as part of their program.

 

Target Audience: 2018-2019 Kindergarten - 5th grade students


Locations: Boggy Creek Elementary, Central Avenue Elementary, Chestnut Elementary School for Science and Engineering, Cypress Elementary, Deerwood Elementary, Flora Ridge Elementary, Highlands Elementary, Koa Elementary, Michigan Avenue Elementary, Narcoossee Elementary, Narcoossee Middle, Thacker Avenue Elementary, Ventura Elementary

Extended Learning Camp I


Cost: $70 weekly fee paid at the camp site on Mondays and Tuesdays or online at www.myschoolbucks.com (registration fee may apply)

Grade Level in the 2018-2019 school year: Kindergarten - 5th grade students

Description: The Extended Learning Program summer camp is an enrichment camp designed to provide a safe and nurturing environment to enhance students cognitively, socially, culturally, and emotionally. A wide variety of activities including art and crafts, games, field trips, and fitness are available.

 

Target Audience: 2018-2019 Kindergarten - 5th grade students


Locations: Bellalago Academy, Celebration K-8, Cypress Elementary,  Highlands Elementary, Michigan Avenue Elementary, Narcoossee Elementary, Sunrise Elementary, Thacker Avenue Elementary


Dates/Times: (6:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m) Monday-Friday 6/10/19 - 6/ 28/19


To Register: Parents of K-5th grade students currently in the Extended Learning Program may register their child April 2-5 & April 9-11 in the morning at the school site.   Summer regular registration -  April 15-26 at the 1200 Vermont Ave. office

 


Extended Learning Camp 2

Exceptional Student Education - Extended School Year


Cost: FREE!


Grade Level in the 2018-2019 school year: Pre-kindergarten - Grade 12 Students with Disabilities

Description: The Extended School Year services provide Special Education and related services to students with disabilities beyond the regular 180-day school year per the recommendations of the IEP Team.

 

Target Audience: Students with disabilities recommended by the IEP Team for ESY services

Description: Students identified in the Duke/Osceola TIPs are invited to engage in a summer institute full of challenging, interest-based sessions and college visits designed to get students interested in the next step for education.

 

Target Audience: 2018-2019 7th grade students in the Duke/Osceola TIP Program

Osceola Young Scholar's Academy


Cost: FREE!


Grade Level in the 2018-2019 school year: Kindergarten-8th grade


Description: Gifted and Advanced students who are seeking a challenge will have the chance to engage in highly-creative activities based on real-word current events and issues.

 

Target Audience: 2018-2019 kindergarten-8th grade Gifted and Advanced students

Middle School Summer Camp for Remediation and Grade Recovery


Cost: FREE!


Grade Level in the 2018-2019 school year: 6th,  7th, and 8th grade students


Description: A districtwide choice program to provide Grade/Course recovery for students who have failed a core academic course to receive remediation to be promoted to the next grade level.

 

Target Audience: All Middle School Students in need of Remediation or Grade Recovery


Locations: Discovery Intermediate, Horizon Middle School, Kissimmee Middle School, Neptune Middle School, Westside K-8 School

Algebra Remediation Retake Bootcamp


Cost: FREE!


Grade Level in the 2018-2019 school year: 8th grade students


Description: Students that took Algebra in 8th grade and did not pass the EOC will receive remediation to prepare for the summer EOC Retake.  They will receive personal invitations

 

Target Audience: 8th grade Algebra students that did not pass the EOC


Locations: Designated locations will be determined based on the need


Dates/Times: 1 week after EOC results are received.  TBD

Pre-Algebra to Algebra Boot Camp

Cost: FREE!


Grade Level in the 2018-2019 school year: 6th- 7th grade students


Description: Supports students transitioning from pre-Algebra to HS Algebra in Middle School. Students will attend their home zoned middle school and participate in activities to ensure success in Algebra during the regular school year.

 

Target Audience: Students entering HS Algebra course in Middle school (25 per location)

Description: Supports students transitioning from 5th to 6th grade. Students will attend their home zoned middle school and participate in activities to orient them to middle school core courses and will include interaction with AVID strategies for success.

 

Target Audience: Current 5th grade students

Exploring the Arts Enrichment

 

Cost: FREE!


Grade Level in the 2018-2019 school year: 6th -8th grade

Description: Provides students with the opportunity to explore a variety of the arts on a rotation to include visual, instrumental, choral, dramatic arts, and more.

 

Target Audience: 2018-2019 students going to 6th-8th grade in 2019-2020 (40 students per location)


Locations: Bellalago Academy, Narcoossee Middle

IMPACT

 

Cost: FREE!


Grade Level in the 2018-2019 school year: 9th - 12th grade

 

Description: IMPACT Labs provide students with the opportunity to meet graduation requirements through grade forgiveness or credit recovery.

 

Target Audience: High School students needing to meet graduation requirement


Locations: Celebration High School, Gateway High School, Harmony High School, Liberty High School, Osceola High School, Poinciana High School, St. Cloud High School, Tohopekaliga High School


Dates/Times: (8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.) Monday - Thursday 6/3/19 - 6/27/19     7/08/19- 7/18/19

CLEP Camp

 

Cost: FREE!


Grade Level in the 2018-2019 school year: 9th - 12th grade

 

Description: CLEP Camp provides students who scored a Level 2 on an AP exam, an additional opportunity to earn college credit in specific areas. Students must attend all three days of camp in order to be eligible to retake the AP exam for college credit on July 25, 2019.

 

Target Audience: High school students who scored a Level 2 on their AP Exam


Locations: Location Gateway High School


Dates/Times: (8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.) Monday - Thursday 7/22/19 - 7/25/19

SEMI High Tech U

 

Cost: FREE!


Grade Level in the 2018-2019 school year: High School students with a deep interest in STEM careers

 

Description: SEMI High Tech U (HTU) is a three-day program for high school students who want to know more about careers in the tech industry. Students put science, engineering, technology, and math (STEM) skills to use during hands-on workshops led by industry volunteers.

 

Target Audience: High School Students with a deep interest in STEM careers


Locations: Various Locations may include UCF, BRIDG, imec, Mercury


Dates/Times: Students will be notified of the times and locations for this opportunity.


To Register: Invitation to students enrolled in STEM / CTE Classes or students who have an interest in and aptitude for STEM careers.

 

 

ELL English Language Acquisition Enrichment Summer Program

Description: Provide ESOL students with additional support utilizing Language Power for English language acquisition and reading comprehension.

 

Target Audience: Non-English Speakers (NES) and Limited English Speakers (LES)

Target Audience: Current Dual Language Students in grades K-4 enrolled at the following schools: Boggy Creek, East Lake, Ventura, Chestnut, Kissimmee, and Thacker Avenue.

stART

Grade Level in the 2018-2019 school year: 6th - 11th grade

 

Description: The stART program provides an opportunity for students to work with highly qualified arts professionals and teaching artists from prestigious colleges such as Juilliard in a multi-disciplinary arts approach.

 

Target Audience: Arts students in the disciplines of instrumental music, vocal, dance, theater, creative writing, technical theater and visual art.
