The program will provide families with the knowledge, tools, and inspiration to help their children succeed in school and in life.

The Institute kick-off will take place on Monday, August 26, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Osceola High School. The keynote speaker will be Consuelo Castillo Kickbusch, who retired from an illustrious military career with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army. As a motivational speaker, Consuelo provides purpose, hope, and inspiration to her audiences across the United States that range from students in the poorest barrios like where she grew up in Texas to parents and educators alike. The kick-off event will also feature free food and informational booths, as well as raffles and giveaways. Childcare will be provided, and the event will be in English and Spanish. Additional interpretation will be available in Portuguese and Haitian Creole.

Following the kick-off event, families will be invited to attend a series of ten modules to be held from September 2019 through April 2020, which focus on the skills, abilities, and attitudes necessary to enhance their own personal success to serve as exemplary role models for their children.

For more information about the Family Leadership Institute, parents are asked to contact the ESOL Educational Specialist at their child’s school or call the bilingual parent hotline at 407-870-4850.
