21st CCLC Intent to Apply

NOTICE OF: Intent to Apply – 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant Funding for 2020-2021


The Osceola County School District hereby notifies the local community of our intention to apply to the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant Program through the Florida Department of Education to support out of school time (OST) programming at the following VPK program host schools:


  • 1. Flora Ridge Elementary School- 2900 Dyer Blvd Kissimmee, FL 34741
  • 2. Westside K-8 School- 2551 Westside Blvd Kissimmee, FL 34747
  • 3. Kissimmee Elementary School- 3700 West Donegan Avenue Kissimmee, FL 34741
  • 4. Ventura Elementary School- 275 Waters Edge Drive Kissimmee< FL 34743
  • 5. KOA Elementary School- 5000 KOA Street Kissimmee, FL 34758
  • 6. Mill Creek Elementary School- 1700 Mill Slough Road Kissimmee, FL 34744


The Osceola County School District will submit the application to the Florida Department of Education when the 2020-2021 Request for Proposal (RFP) is released in the Spring of 2020. If granted, funds will be used to support additional learning time for prekindergarten students at the host sites listed above.

The purpose of the 21st Century Community Learning Centers program is to provide opportunities for communities to establish or expand community learning centers to support kindergarten readiness:

provide opportunities during non-school hours for academic enrichment, including providing tutorial services to help students, particularly students who attend low-performing schools, improve their kindergarten readiness and to meet the challenging State academic standards;

- offer students an assortment of additional services, programs and activities during non-school hours, to improve kindergarten readiness, such as child development activities, nutrition and health education, drug and violence prevention programs, social-emotional learning, arts, music, physical fitness and wellness programs, technology education programs, environmental literacy programs, mathematics, science, that are designed to reinforce and complement the regular academic program of participating prekindergarten students; and

- offer families of students served by community learning centers opportunities for active and meaningful engagement in their children’s education, including opportunities for literacy and related educational development.
