Battle of the Books Battle of the Books

The Battle of the Books team is a group of students who have read the 15 Sunshine State Young Readers Award books! The team spends months practicing questions, quizzing each other, and finding strengths in one another. The culminating competition puts our team against all the other elementary schools in Osceola County.

Our hard-working teams have placed 1st (twice), 2nd, and 3rd in the last 7 years!

    Chess Club

    Chess Club

Our Chess Club meets in the morning before school with chess enthusiasts, Mr. Glasheen and Mrs. Perry. The club is open to students in grade K-5 for all levels of experience, but space and materials are limited. Studies have shown that students who learn chess early improves concentration and memory, enhance math and reading skills, while developing and growing creative thinking and problem solving skills.

Mrs. Kaufmann leads our chorus for students in grades 3-5. Our talented Eagles perform annually at the St. Cloud tree lighting, at various events on campus throughout the year, and to accompany our school musicals.

Additionally, select member of the chorus have the opportunity to showcase their talents with the All County Chorus.

Girls on the Run Girls on the Run

Girls on the Run is an after-school program for girls in grades 3-5. Not only does the program aim to help girls meet the goal of completing a 5K but focuses on the whole child.

Meeting twice a week, girls will be engaged in dynamic, interactive lessons aimed at building confidence, learning crucial life skills, as well as building their running endurance.

Odyssey of the Mind Odyssey of the Mind

Odyssey of the mind is a global program forcing students to think out of the box to solve problems both on the spot and long-term. The long-term problem is presented in a performance that must creatively solve the problem while following a strict set of rules that can be changed or clarified at any point. Eagles who have participated have learned to overcome adversity, persevere when it would be easier to give up, and stand proud in their teamwork.

    SoccerSoccer

All students in grades 3-5 have the opportunity to try out for the school's soccer team. The soccer team competes with other elementary schools in Osceola County.

Many of the games take place right across the street from East Lake at Austin-Tindall Sports Complex, one of our valued business partners!

    Violin Strings

At East Lake we have a strings program for students in 4th and 5th grade. A traveling teacher comes to teach the basics and beginning lessons of instruments such as violin, cello, and bass. Instruments will be provided for those in need.

The program has evolved over the last couple of years. As of last school year, the strings program met after school.

    Theater Theater

Our theater program is relatively new. As we've grown the program our Eagles have performed Annie and most recently Seussical Kids. Students audition for roles ans spend months working on lines, blocking, sets, songs, costumes, and more. The culminating performance is held right here on campus where friends and families are welcome to enjoy the show. Donations for the program are suggested upon entrance.
