Young Women's Leadership Event Makes Impact on Our Students

"Leaders for Life—Better Together" Young Women's Leadership Event took place in August at Valencia College and was for rising female high school students in grades ten through twelve.

The theme of this years event was "Chosen to Lead" with attendees being trained in leadership skills from successful women throughout the community. The keynote speaker was Annetta Wilson, President, Speak with Ease, Communication Strategist, Certified Mastery Coach, and 2017 Orlando Business Journal "Women Who Mean Business" Award winner.

All sessions were devoted to empowering our future leaders to think big, dream big, and become the next generation of global trailblazers for their schools and beyond. The agenda also included topics such as "Chosen to Lead", by the Honorable Katrina Scarborough; "Resume Building", by Margaux Pratt; and "Dressing for Your Success Journey", by Twis Lizasuain.

The highlight of the day was when Justyce McFarlane, a junior from St. Cloud High, won a $1000 scholarship from the Education Foundation to be used toward a college or school of her choice upon graduating from high school.
