Tohopekaliga's Alysa Whetro Named Female Player Of The Year

Alysa Whetro doesn't know what an off-season is.

"I participated in soccer, track, cross country, golf and weightlifting," said Alysa.

Out of the five sports she's competed in at Tohopekaliga High School, track is her favorite.

"I’ve been doing track for seven years and with track, I do multiple events. I’m used to running around all day and doing that kind of prepared me for high school."

Alysa throws javelin, competes in the long jump, and loves participating in the high jump.

"It’s a really fun event, it’s really technical, and I like making sure I get everything down pat."

Colleges have taken notice of her successes on the track. She's gotten several offers, and while she hasn't finalized a decision yet, she plans to pursue a degree in psychology.

"I really like working with people, I’m a really good talker, and I think I give good advice."

As this chapter closes, Alysa is leaving behind quite the legacy after being named the district's Female Player of the Year.

"I was surprised a lot of people would vote for me and see the progress I’ve made so it was really special to me."
