Teacher and Peers Help Student Feel Safe at School

If you're a parent, you know all too well the excitement (and sometime fears) that come with your child starting kindergarten. Those emotions are not only ones you feel, but your child feels as well.

At Narcoossee Elementary, we have been told there are some amazing teachers and students who are going above and beyond to make a certain kindergarten student feel safe and welcome at school this year.

Lauren Caldwell, mother of London, a kindergartner at Narcoossee Elementary, had nothing but amazing things to say about her child's first experiences at this school.

"I'd like to brag a little about my daughter London's kindergarten teacher, Ms. Molnar. London had a rough time adjusting to a new school, new people, longer days, and no friends. She told me she would cry every day at lunch because she was lonely and sad and didn't know where her teacher was. I reassured her that everything would be okay, that she just needed to give it time, and that she would make plenty of friends. The next day, London came home and told me that she had the best day at school and didn't cry. When I asked why, she went on to tell me that Ms. Molnar stayed with her in the cafeteria that day because of how upset she had been (giving up her own lunch break) to sit with London and calm her down. I wanted to cry after learning this. Knowing that Ms. Molnar went above and beyond to help London makes me forever grateful for her."

Along with this story, London's mom also let us know that there is a boy on London's bus who help her buckle her seat belt; another little girl named Trinity, talks to her and keeps her calm on the bus; and another little boy reminds London of her bus stop when she panics and forgets.

These stories are a true testament for the amazing relationships and community being fostered at Narcoossee Elementary School!
