Maisha was born with Spina Bifida, which occurs when the spine and spinal cord do not form properly.

She's been practicing with her braces and physical therapist for months so she could walk across the stage behind her twin sister to receive her diploma. As she hoisted herself out of her wheelchair and made her way to Principal Phelps, the arena erupted in applause.

Maisha is headed to Valencia college in the fall. Her dream job is to be a physician’s assistant.
