Harmony High School's Coach Kerns Is Named The District Coach Of The Year

Adam Kerns ran track at both the high school and college level.  His love for the sport never stopped growing, that's why he's the head track coach for girls track at Harmony High School.

"It's kind of like you have 48 daughters," said Coach Kerns.

Coming off a season that was cut short, his girls were motivated to succeed.

"This year has probably been the easiest year coaching.  I know that sounds weird, but we’ve had a special group of girls who didn’t need a lot of motivation. They just went out and did their thing."

That thing happened to be making school history.

Both girls and boys won the Orange Belt Conference championship. Also, boys and girls for the first time in school history won district championships in the same year, and we had a handful of kids qualify for the state.  They’ll always be remembered as one of the best teams to come through Harmony."

Little did Coach Kerns know he would also be remembered county wide as the county's 2020-2021 Coach of the Year.

"I was shocked, obviously I come from a very rich county when it comes to coaches so just to be mentioned in those names with some of those coaches is a real privilege."
