Students Fundraise for Wildlife Rescue

A group of fifth graders at East Lake Elementary had been brainstorming ways to give back to our community. They were very excited to brainstorm and plan ways to raise money for Back to Nature Wildlife Rescue, which is near the school.

They came up with the idea to set up a booth at the Fall Festival to raise the money. The school's PTO was more than welcoming but explained they just couldn't compete with other vendors, which meant no bake sales, no face painting, etc.

This put them back to square one until Emily C. shared she knew how to make balloon animals. Her teachers welcomed students to school early each day so she could teach classes on how to make some of the easier balloon animals.

The night of the fall festival, the team of students gave up having their own fun to work their booth, raising $173 for Back to Nature Wildlife Rescue! #SDOCGoodtoGreat
