  • On Monday, April 8, there will be a solar eclipse. This means that the moon will pass in between the Earth and the sun, partially blocking the sun’s light from reaching us. The eclipse will begin around 1:46 p.m. and end about 4:17 p.m. Parents and students are reminded that it is not safe to ever look directly at the sun without specialized eye protection, even during a solar eclipse.

    We will dismiss school at our regularly-scheduled time on Monday. We will be moving all outside activities inside from 1:15 PM – 4:15 PM that day strictly as a precaution for the health of everyone’s eyes, unless special lessons have been planned in advance by teachers with approved protective eyewear and proper safety procedures. Teachers will be encouraged to use technology in their classrooms to allow students to view the coverage of the eclipse if it aligns with their lessons.   Students and staff will be reminded during this learning opportunity to avoid looking directly at the sun during the eclipse.
