Student Run Coffee Shop Makes a Difference

Every Friday, the ASD students of St. Cloud Middle School provide coffee to the staff through a student-run coffee shop started by Mrs. Facey.

Through this creative initiative, the ASD students are able to work on the social skills required in their daily lives to interact with others. They take and deliver orders to staff where they learn about making eye contact, how to respond with verbal acknowledgments such as thank you and you're welcome, and more.

This project also helps students with their sequencing, money, measuring, reading, and writing skills.

Mrs. Facey started this initiative due to her passion and love for her students. Students involved in this walk into class on Friday morning excited to begin the coffee shop and serve the staff. Finding ways to reach these students and peak their interest in school on their level great impacts their lives, now and for years to come.

Having a teacher like Mrs. Facey, who loves, cares for, and creates a learning environment that will influence the lives of students is an asset to the Osceola School District!
