Greetings Jaguars & Happy New Year!
The Jaguar Nation is bustling with engagement as students analyze their F.A.S.T. PM2 data results. This is a great time to review those baseline results and celebrate your learner’s growth from PM1 to PM2. Is your child making gains? The goal is for each student to make one full year’s worth of growth in both Reading and Math. Feel free to make an appointment with a member of our administrative team. We’re happy to review your child’s PM1 vs. PM2 results with you, to ensure your student is indeed progressing towards meeting their goals. The State of Florida considers students to be on grade level if they score a level 3. Proficient with grade level standards requires a level 4 on PM3 in the Spring.
Level 1= Below Grade Level (student needs substantial support)
Level 2 = Below Grade Level
Level 3= On Grade Level
Level 4 = Proficient
Level 5 = Exemplary
While we recognize that a level 3 may not be attainable YET, for some learners, the goal is for students to grow one full level each school year, narrowing that achievement gap until they are on grade level LVL 3! We are equipped with a comprehensive blueprint of principles and values which will propel us towards measurable results for all learners. We invite you now to join us on this exciting journey, as we begin the heavy lifting of guiding our Jaguars through the middle school years. Please remember you are not alone. We have a team of dedicated teachers, administrators, and professional support staff members committed to helping your child every step of the way!
Important Reminders:
1) Review your child's PM2 data for both Reading & Math. Remember on grade level = minimum level 3
2) Check your child’s FOCUS gradebook weekly to ensure they are completing their schoolwork in a timely manner.
3) Attendance matters! It is imperative that your student be in school, ready to learn every day. A missed school day is a lost opportunity for students to learn.
4) Please ensure your child is dressed for success each day, in compliance with the District and School dress code. At KMS, the uniform polo shirts are determined by grade level:
· 6th Teal Blue
· 7th White
· 8th Black
Upcoming Dates:
- December 18: Holidays Around the World 5:30pm ($5 for adults, KMS students free)
- December 23-January 6: No school Student Holiday
- January 7: Classes Resume Tuesday
- January 14: End of Quarter 2
- January 20: No School MLK Jr. Day
- January 27: QTR. 2 Report Cards Issued
- February 12: 3rd QTR. Progress Reports
- February 21: No School Rodeo Day
Parents, we know you have a choice when it comes to your child’s education and we thank you for choosing Kissimmee Middle School.
