Specially trained SROs serve as educators, mentors, and support figures for students while maintaining the physical security of the building—playing a vital role in ensuring that schools are safe and welcoming places where all students can learn.

Officer O'Neill, MAE School Resource Officer

  • I have been the School Resource Officer (SRO) at Michigan Avenue Elementary School going into my 4th year and employed at the St. Cloud Police Department for 9 years. I have completed the F.D.L.E. required SRO qualification course through the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO). I also completed Autism Awareness Training for Law Enforcement Officers through The Autism Society of Greater Orlando (ASGO). My desire to be an SRO is to build the rapport with the students, school staff and parents. The main idea is to teach the students to trust in law enforcement throughout my interaction with them daily and provide a safe school environment.
