• Dear Parents and Students,

It is the philosophy of the Media Center that each user should be able to grow in their ability to locate, evaluate and use information for the classroom and in life. The objective of the Media Center is to facilitate this growth and support the curriculum of Horizon Middle School.

The Horizon Middle School media center works on a free-access system. The Media Center is open to students throughout each day, including homeroom and lunch, as long as students have a signed pass from a teacher or administrator. It is the teacher's discretion to send students, and the teacher and media specialist reserve the right to revoke media center privileges. Services available include book check out, use of computers for word processing and research purposes, use of textbooks, and areas for silent reading.

A student may check out books to complete class work and read for enjoyment. The number of books a student may check out is at the media specialist's discretion and based upon availability. Books may be renewed one time after the original check out. Students must use their ID number to check out books. It is the student's responsibility to return checked out materials to the media center. Students are given a username and password to view their media center account; this information is shared during library orientation.

Ultimately, the Media Center is here to help each student achieve his/her best, and the media staff is willing to work with each student as they strive to achieve their best path to learning.

    Sincerely,
    Sherlene Woodall
    Media Specialist
