School Resource Officer

Officer Aponte

Alberto Aponte

In June 1994, I joined the New York City Police Cadet Corp.  I served as a Police Cadet for two years.  In January 1995, I graduated from the City College of New York with a degree in a bachelor’s in the arts.

In March 1997, I received a Certification of Completion from the New York City Police Academy.  I then started as a Patrol Officer in the 41st Precinct located in the Bronx.  After nine months on the newly created 4th shift, I was transferred to the Special Operations Unit.  I spent three years with the Special Operations Unit.

In November 2001, I vested out of the New York City Police Department and moved to Orlando, Florida.  In May 2002, I completed the FDLE Law Enforcement Cross over Training at Daytona Beach Community College.  In August 2002, I was hired by The Kissimmee Police Department, and started as a Patrol Officer on the Westside day shift. In my nineteen years with the Kissimmee Police Department, I worked the Westside day shift, the Eastside day shift and the Westside nightshift.  I later became a Field Training Officer, responsible for training and mentoring multiple recruit officers. In addition to patrol, I have been assigned to the Traffic Enforcement Unit. I am also an active member of the Emergency Response Team where we train with multiple agencies from the Central Florida area. I am also an active member of the Government Employment Organization for the City of Kissimmee Multiagency representing the Kissimmee Police Department.  In 2019, I joined the School Resource Officer Unit and became the SRO for Kissimmee Elementary School.

My responsibilities as the Kissimmee Elementary School Resource Officer is to maintain a safe campus as well as develop positive and trusting relationships with students, teachers, school administrators and the student’s parents.  If you have any concerns or questions, you can always reach me at my office, or you can contact the school front desk and ask to speak to me.  Remember keep a positive mind and a great smile is expected of all of you.  Thank you.
