Principal's Message

Hello Deerwood Challengers!
I am Mr. Confesor, your proud principal. I would like to welcome you to the 2020-2021 School Year. As we go on our journey during these troubling times, I want to ensure you that our staff will remain dedicated to work together to meet the needs of all of our students. We have missed hearing the sound of our students laughing and learning since the pandemic.
I am asking our community to practice patience and flexibility as we open our doors. We will have new routines and procedures. Anyone who enters our building must have a mask and the mask must continue to be worn. We will be checking the temperature daily of our staff, our students, and any visitor that enters Deerwood. Our students will be distanced from one another in the classroom. Sanitizer will be supplied to each classroom. We will only allow one way travel in our hallways, and our cafeteria has been rearranged to distance our students during lunch.
I want to remind everyone that there are times that safety and convenience do not go hand in hand. The doors of our front office will be open, but I am asking that you remain patient as we can only allow a few visitors at a time. In order to speed up time, I encourage you to call ahead to make an appointment at 407.870.2400. All visitors must wear a mask and will be required to have their temperature taken upon entry.
On behalf of Deerwood Elementary, I want to say how excited we are to be working with you to provide a safe environment and a high quality education for every child, every chance, every day.
Sincerely,
Audie Confesor
Principal
