Hello Eagle families!
I am so excited and proud as the Principal of Reedy Creek Elementary to welcome back ALL our students and families for the start of the 2024-2025 school year. This year a new adventure awaits us, as our school will be different. With a significant decrease in student enrollment, Reedy Creek will now become a community-based school with students all living within proximity to the school. Our adventure will continue throughout the year as the much needed comprehensive remodel will have the beginning stages starting in early 2025. No matter what the size of our school may be, we look forward to the year filled with high quality instruction, engaging and rigorous lessons, and fun-filled activities to support student learning. It is my honor to work with the Reedy Creek Family and it is truly my privilege to serve our community and to help make our school the best in Osceola County.
As a principal and an educator, I have lofty expectations for our faculty, staff, and students. This includes the classroom, on the playground and in our community. I want all to give their best effort, keep a cheerful outlook and create a sense of personal responsibility for learning. I want our students to be enthusiastic, confident, inquisitive, and determined learners.
To promote student success, at Reedy Creek we believe in fostering a shared-learning community that prioritizes communication, efficiency, safety, and respect. Staff, parent/guardian, and student collaboration is particularly important to me, and we honestly believe that we need to have a strong partnership between the school and you to support your students’ education. Now, more than ever, we need collaborative parent partners. We invite you to join our PTO and SAC and help to support our school by volunteering during activities and sharing your thoughts and ideas.
This year, we will continue the 1-to-1 device initiative and will work to further enhance our instruction at school. Please help us to ensure students are keeping laptops in their protective cases, charged and ready for use and with any device it is also important to monitor and remind students at home about the appropriate uses. We will continue our diligence at school with the district programs of “Content Keeper” and “Gaggle,” but we also encourage parents to check your student’s computer routinely and remind students that the devices and programs are to be used for instructional purposes only and not gaming. Please be sure to help keep these devices in good working condition so that we can optimize their use for instruction.
Positive Behavior Intervention Support (P.B.I.S) program has been implemented the past few years with immense success. We will continue this with a continued focus on providing initiative-taking support while working to prevent or eliminate unwanted behaviors. Eagle Cash will again be earned for demonstrating positive behavior interactions which they will be able to use in their classrooms, at our school store or for school-wide rewards. Our journey through the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program will continue once again. Through our academics we will focus on Writing, Organization, Collaboration and Reading strategies (WICOR) that will help to foster learning and achievement.
This year our theme will center around the slogan of “Adventure Awaits…at Reedy Creek. With change happening in multiple capacities, from student enrollment, teacher changes and classroom location changes… we all will experience a new adventure this year, but our goals and the focus remain the same to become the top elementary school in Osceola County!
We cannot wait to see all our students smiling faces as we welcome you back to school this year!
Remember, if you have not heard it yet today…
We care about you,
We love you,
We believe in you!At Reedy Creek We Care!
Go Eagles!Katie Adams, Principal
Welcome Eagles!
