The October Project - In this project, students research historical events that occurred in the month of October, then create an Impressionistic painting based on their findings. One student chose to focus on The Great Chicago Fire, which ravaged Chicago, Illinois from October 8–10, 1871.

I absolutely love this piece! The vibrant, fiery colors contrast beautifully against the dark blues of the landscape and sky, capturing the intensity of the fire. The artist’s use of loose, expressive brushstrokes adds energy and movement, perfectly reflecting the chaos of the event.
