• Congratulations to Gateway’s boys and girls track team for their amazing performances at last week’s Regional Track meet at Davenport High School.

In all, 32 teams competed at the meet with Gateway’s boys team finishing 14th overall and the Lady Panthers finishing 13th with only 5 athletes competing.

The Panthers had 21 total athletes competing at the Regional meet and 17 of those athletes set personal records.

Senior Amela Johnson won two regional championships, placing first in the 200- and 400-meter runs. She set a new school record in the 400.

Gateway’s boys 1,600-meter relay team placed second in the meet, beating their season’s best time by 6.5 seconds.

Special thanks to Coach Distler, Coach Marino and Coach Ana for their hard work and dedication to ensuring that our student athletes were prepared for every meet. Thanks also to the 20-plus parents who volunteered their time and treasure to make sure our students were fed and feeling good. Big thank yous also to Dean Briggs, Mr. Rivera, Ms. Brown, Coach Hill and Mrs. Hill for all of their support this season.

And, finally, a huge Panther shout out to the man in charge, Coach Crossley. He truly loves what he does, and we love him for doing it! #Tracklife
