SERVICE HOURS REQUIREMENT FOR BRIGHT FUTURES SCHOLARSHIP

To be eligible for the Bright Futures Scholarship, students must complete the hours requirement either through volunteer service hours OR paid work hours. The student can only use one type (they cannot combine work and service hours). 

HOW TO DOCUMENT COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS

Complete & Return Community Service Hours Form to Your Counselor

Volunteer/Service Hours:

• • • Fill out all pages of the Bright Futures Community Service/Paid Work Proposal Form (document available below)
    • Make sure to have your parent/guardian sign and date page 3 "Parent Signature" line
    • Make sure to have a contact from the organization where the service was completed to sign and date page 3 on the "Business/Agency Contact's Signature" line  
    • Submit the completed proposal form to your school counselor

Paid Work Hours

• • • Fill out all pages of the Bright Futures Community Service/Paid Work Proposal Form (document available below)
    • Make sure to have your parent/guardian sign and date page 3
    • Make sure to have your manager/supervisor from your place of work sign and date page 3 on the "Business/Agency Contact's Signature" line
    • Log work hours and dates on page 3 of the form
    • Submit a copy of the pay stub(s) for each date/hour listed on page 3 with the completed form to your school counselor.

You must have a separate form for each place you volunteer. Turn in completed forms to your school counselor to have your hours updated in Focus.
