    Our history...

The Kissimmee Police Academy was certified on August 1, 1968 by the Florida Police Standards Council, the forerunner of the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission. The first class began on September 9, 1968 at the Kissimmee Police Department. When the Academy received certification to teach the Basic Recruit Correctional Officers course, the training was renamed the Kissimmee Criminal Justice Academy of January 24, 1991. In November of 1992, the responsibility of the Academy was assumed by the School District of Osceola County, Florida and the training center’s official title was changed to the Criminal Justice Academy of Osceola. The Academy relocated to its current training facility at Osceola Technical College (oTECH) in April, 1994. In January 2012, a major academy remodeling project was completed providing a new and larger reception area, additional office space, added technology, and storage space. In October 2014, the Academy relocated to a new dedicated criminal justice facility. The Criminal Justice Academy of Osceola continues today as one of the finest training centers in the State of Florida with a proud history of tradition and excellence.
