    WHAT IS CANVAS?

Canvas is a Learning Management System (LMS), where your student's online learning takes place. Students can take quizzes, tests, do homework and watch lessons.

Canvas has the ability for parents to act as a student observer. You now have the ability to see what exactly is going on in your child's classes. Observers are linked to one or more students; while you cannot submit course work on their behalf, you can see grades, assignments, events and any course interactions.

Canvas includes a variety of built-in course construction and management tools that can be customized to create unique and accessible teaching and learning experiences.

Instructional designers and instructors may create and share course content using assignmentsdiscussionsmodulesquizzes, and pages. They may also choose to foster a collaborative learning experience using collaborations and groups. Depending on course settings, students can access these areas in Canvas to find learning materials and interact with other course users.

HOW DO I BECOME AN OBSERVER?

STEP 1: GENERATE A PAIRING CODE

You can sign up as an observer by sitting with your student and clicking on the settings link on their canvas dashboard. On the right side of the settings page, click on "Pair with Observer". This will generate your pairing code.

STEP 2: SIGN UP FOR A CANVAS ACCOUNT

You can sign up for a parent account and once you have your pairing code (step 1) you are able to connect with your student. Please click the link below to create your canvas account. Click "Parent of a canvas user?" to complete your canvas set up.
