Grading / Pacing requirements
Osceola Virtual Schools sets high expectations for the success of its students. We are committed to meeting the needs of all students and will work tirelessly to facilitate student success. To maintain instructional momentum, students are required to submit assignments in their course on a Weekly Basis and to maintain regular contact with their instructors.
- Students will be withdrawn from course if welcome call not completed.
- Any student who does not log in or make adequate progress in the course(s) enrolled for a period of seven (7) or more days without prior consent with his/her instructor and school administration will receive a call from the the Assistant Director or Guidance counselor.
- The Assistant Director or Guidance counselor will attempt to reconnect the student and parent with the course instructor to create an Academic Plan/Contract for the student.
- Failure to respond to the attempts to contact the student, or failure to adhere to the Academic Plan may result in loss of access to courses or Administrative Removal from the course with an "F" grade.

Final Exam Policy
The purpose of the final exam is to assist in validating that students have demonstrated mastery of key course concepts and standards. The final exam, unto itself, is not the sole determiner of student achievement; however, students are required to take and successfully pass a final exam in all OVS courses. In order to maintain the integrity of all OVS grades, instructors may choose to facilitate random oral assessments and/or face to face exams. Also, some classes will take the End of Course Exam (EOC) required by the State of Florida.
Will my student receive a report card?
Parents will be able to monitor student progress anytime. Final grade reports are also issued within the Learning Management System, and grades are posted to the student’s academic history file in the district’s mainframe computer system.
If you like a challenge, we believe you should have the opportunity to try honors courses. To do so, simply alert your teacher of your goal, and then complete the honors assignments in the course. If the assignments prove to be above your skills, you may drop back to regular credit with no penalty. Just be sure to communicate with your teacher.
Every student must agree with the following statement included in the Student Agreement Form:
"I acknowledge that during the first 14 days of being activated into my OVS course I may drop the course without penalty. I understand that for each online course there are a minimum number of assignments that must be completed each week. Failure to submit the minimum number of assignments on a weekly basis will result in my removal from the course and may result in a failing grade being assigned to my academic transcript. If I drop the course after completing 50% of the class requirements and fail to take the final exam, Osceola Virtual School will issue an “F” for my final grade."
