Video Tips & Tools

  • Capturing your audience (ie. your students, parents, faculty, community members) is key and creating video content is the most popular way to do so right now. One of the most engaging ways to tell your story is through use of the video.

    Where do you start?

Creating videos is easier than you think. You can use your smartphone to capture, edit, ad share videos to your social media channels.

On an iPhone, you can record video through the camera app and then edit and/or piece together video and photo clips with the free iMovie app (that can be downloaded from the App Store).

On an android phone, you can record through the camera app and then edit and/or piece together video and photo clips with some of these free apps: Adobe Premiere Clip, FilmoraGo, Movie Maker Filmmaker, or Quik (just to name a few).

How long should videos be for social media?

Instagram: 30 seconds for videos you post in your feed, but longer if you’d like to have them continue in IGTV.

Twitter: No more than two minute and 20 seconds.

Facebook: A minute or two is key here.

YouTube: No more than 15 minutes, but the shorter, the better.
