Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Act of 1965 as amended by the Improving America's Schools Act of 1994 provides supplemental educational services for eligible public and private school students to assist those children in acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary to meet challenging student performance standards. Federal legislation has provided guidelines for the selection of schools, for the selection of students, and for parental involvement. Click to view the Parent/guardian Right to Know.

School Selection

Schools are ranked annually by determining the percentage of the students receiving free and reduced lunch and are given priority on the basis of the percentage of students from low-income families. Title I funds may then be used to upgrade the entire school's instructional program.

Student Selection

Students attending a school designated as “School-wide” will receive delivery of Title I services based upon the individual school's needs assessment. Click here for a complete list of our Title I schools.

Parent and Family Engagement

All participating parents are invited to attend a Title I orientation meeting to learn about the program and the role of parents in the success of their child's education. Parents/guardians are encouraged to become involved in the education of their children at home and school.
