ParaPro Assessment Information

The ParaPro Assessment was developed in response to the federal No Child Left Behind legislation, which requires paraprofessionals to meet one of the following qualifications:

  • Hold an Associate of Arts degree or higher
  • Complete two years of college coursework (minimum of 60 credit hours)
  • Demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematics through a state or local academic assessment, and show the ability to assist in classroom instruction

About the ParaPro Assessment

The ParaPro Assessment evaluates the skills and knowledge of prospective and current paraprofessionals in reading, writing, and mathematics. It also measures the ability to apply these skills in a classroom setting.

  • Format: 90 multiple-choice questions
  • Subjects: Reading, Mathematics, Writing
  • Duration: 2.5 hours
  • Delivery: Computer-based, web format
  • Language: English

Approximately two-thirds of the questions assess basic skills, while the remaining third focus on applying those skills in instructional contexts.

Test Preparation Resources

Osceola District Schools does not offer test preparation classes. However, ETS provides free and affordable study materials to help candidates prepare and reduce test anxiety. For more information, please visit the ParaPro website.

Once you’ve completed the ParaPro Assessment, please upload your score report to your candidate profile in our Career Portal.
