How do students earn Osceola Prosper?

Students must…

  • Submit all 3 parts of the 2026-2027 FAFSA and have their FAFSA processed by the Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA). Be sure to have added Valencia Community College and/or Osceola Technical College on your FAFSA.  
    1. FSA ID for student and FSA ID for contributor
    2. Student FAFSA
    3. Contributor FAFSA 
  • Complete all steps to enrollment for Valencia College or Osceola Technical College (see below) 

Students with concerns about completing any part of the FAFSA should meet with the financial aid office at Valencia College Osceola Campus (Building 2, room 105) to inquire about a FAFSA waiver for Prosper or the financial aid office at Osceola Technical College.

A submitted FAFSA is not the same thing as a processed FAFSA. Your status must say PROCESSED on your OFSA account in order for your FAFSA to be considered complete.

It can take 6 weeks from the time your FAFSA is processed to the time colleges receive it. This is why you want your FAFSA processed as early as possible!

What does Osceola Prosper cover?

Osceola Prosper is a last-dollar-in scholarship. This means Osceola Prosper will cover tuition and fees for eligible programs at Osceola Technical College or Valencia College that grants from the processed FAFSA and any other scholarships do not cover. (This does not include the cost of textbooks or class materials.)

Steps to Enrollment

Students – your College & Career Counselor or Valencia Transition Coach can help you with any of these steps during the school day. Contact them for more information. Students and their families can also attend an Osceola Prosper Night for additional support.

Students will be expected to attend an Osceola Prosper Institute in July at Valencia College. Register for Prosper Institute here.  

Valencia College Steps to Enrollment

  1. Apply with your Valencia Transition Coach or at an enrollment event
  2. Create your VC account. Then, complete orientation. 
    1. Orientation is 2 parts:
      1. Part 1 is an overiew of the college and instructions on how to register for classes.
      2. Part 2 reviews how to meet with a Student Success Coach to help you choose your classes and register. 
  3. Submit proof of Florida Residency 
  4. Register for Prosper Institute. Register for Prosper Institute here.  
  5. Be sure your 2026-2027 FAFSA has been received by the financial aid office (It can take 6 weeks from the time your FAFSA is processed to the time Valencia College receives it. This is why you want your FAFSA processed as early as possible!) 
  6. Have your final high school transcript sent to Valencia College (Your high school will automatically send your transcript to the school you list on your End of Year Senior Survey on Xello.) 
  7. Determine if any placement testing is necessary, like the PERT. 
  8. Register for classes 
  9. Check to make sure your account balance is accurate. 

Attend a Prosper Night or see your Valencia Transition Coach at your high school during the school day to help you with any and all of these steps!

Osceola Technical College Steps to Enrollment 

These programs fill to capacity every year. Spots in these programs are first come, first served.

  1. Apply with your College & Career Counselor, at an enrollment event, or with your Valencia Transition Coach 
  2. Meet with the program advisor. You can schedule appointments at Student Services Office. You are encouraged to bring your parent/guardian with you.  
  3. Take any assessments required for enrollment into your chosen program 
  4. Meet with financial aid – make sure your 2026-2027 FAFSA is processed. (It can take 6 weeks from the time your FAFSA is processed to the time Valencia College receives it. This is why you want your FAFSA processed as early as possible!)  
  5. Submit your final high school transcript – your high school will automatically send your transcript to the school you list on your End of Year Senior Survey on Xello.
