Rebecca (Becky) Palmer--Program Specialist for School Operations and ESE Services and Sheidalisse (Sheida) Clavell, Morgan Music, and Arlene Berger--Hospital Homebound Teachers comprise our Hospital Homebound Team!!
Who Makes Up the Team?
Becky Palmer is our Program Specialist for School Operations and ESE Services. Her work plays a vital role in supporting some of our most unique and high-need student populations. Becky coordinates Hospital Homebound eligibilities and services, ensuring students who are unable to attend school due to medical needs continue to receive instruction and meaningful support.
In addition, Becky serves as the Program Specialist for students with disabilities attending private schools, working closely with families to update IEPs, evaluations/reevaluations, and service plans to ensure services align with each student’s individual needs. Additionally, she trains Access teachers on administering the alternate assessment and monitors assessment completion throughout the year.
Fun Fact: Becky loves watching YouTubers from Alaska and learning about life in the far north! Her favorite channels include This Alaska Life and Homestead Diaries, and she hopes to experience Alaska’s breathtaking scenery in person someday.
Becky’s work behind the scenes helps remove barriers, maintain continuity, and ensure that students receive the services they deserve—no matter their learning environment.
|
A Hospital Homebound teacher plays a critical and compassionate role in supporting students who are unable to attend school due to medical, health‑related, or emotional/physical recovery needs. These educators provide instruction either virtually, in the home, or in medical care settings, ensuring students remain connected to learning during some of the most challenging periods of their lives. They collaborate closely with families and school teams to maintain academic progress, adapt lessons to each student’s abilities and stamina, and offer stability, encouragement, and continuity when it’s needed most. Their work is deeply individualized, highly flexible, and profoundly impactful.
Our teachers are topnotch...
Sheida Clavell brings warmth, dedication, and a strong passion for supporting students as they heal. She partners closely with families and adapts instruction to meet each child’s academic and emotional needs, whether teaching virtually or in the home. Her compassion and flexibility provide encouragement and stability during what can be a stressful time for families.
Fun Fact: At age 12, Sheida spent a month on a missionary trip to Colombia—an experience she still holds close to her heart. One of her favorite memories from the trip was holding a sloth at a zoo and feeling its tiny arms wrap around her ever so slooowly—an unforgettable moment she still calls the cutest ever!
Morgan Music’s instruction is hands‑on, differentiated, and deeply personalized, grounded in a genuine commitment to each student she serves. She thoughtfully incorporates visual supports, interactive activities, assistive technology, structured routines, and multisensory approaches to meet learners exactly where they are—while carefully aligning instruction with IEP goals, grade‑level standards, and daily health considerations. Through her patience, creativity, and adaptability, Morgan brings not only academic growth, but reassurance, consistency, and hope--making her a truly exceptional advocate for every student in her care.
Fun Fact: Morgan loves going all‑out for every holiday with festive outfits, themed accessories, and vibrant energy! When she’s not celebrating in style, she’s usually making magical memories at Disney or enjoying time with her parents.
Arlene Berger also serves as one of our Hospital Homebound teachers. Her dedication and commitment play an important role in providing high‑quality instructional support to students. Although she is not featured in this spotlight, her contributions are valued and recognized.
We are so grateful for our compassionate, flexible, and student-centered Hospital Homebound teachers. Their dedication ensures students continue learning and feeling supported, no matter the circumstances!
The entire team is amazing, and we are so thankful for them!

The Project SEARCH highlights and information shared below comes from their Weekly Newsletter
|
Over last couple of weeks our classroom instruction has been focused on bills, household expenses, and wages. With our intern’s household expenses list we have been able to discuss cost of living and wages our interns would need to live independently.
This week we are also sending out our final mid-way evaluation for this school year. Today we had our interns fill out their own mid-way evaluation and grade themselves. Once we receive our evaluation back from our departments, we are going to match the evaluation and discuss the differences.

Our department would like to share a difficult update regarding Nathan Navarro, a former student who recently withdrew from Neptune Middle School. Nathan and his family are currently navigating an extremely challenging time, and they have asked that this information remain confidential and for staff awareness only.
Nathan has bravely fought cancer for nine years, beginning when he was just six years old. After exhaustive and courageous treatment efforts, his family and medical team have reached the heartbreaking point where no further curative options are available. Nathan’s care has now transitioned to palliative and hospice support, with the focus centered on comfort, dignity, and meaningful time together as a family.
The family has created a GoFundMe to help lessen some of the financial burdens they are facing. If you feel moved to support them, any contribution—large or small—is deeply appreciated. Participation is completely optional.
During this difficult time, we ask that you keep Nathan and his family in your thoughts and hearts.

PM Wells Center for Academic Excellence serves 32 students - each one bright, resilient, and full of potential. Our students are a unique and special mix of students with autism, learning difference or trauma-related behaviors that need a dedicated place with small classes, additional support and flexibility. And this year, the School District of Osceola County has a created a place where these students have found their home.
These students learn differently, but they show up every day ready to try again. They thrive when given structure, patience, and support and what they need most is a classroom where they feel safe, capable, and valued. With your help, we can give them the tools and environment they need to keep growing and believing in themselves and to create a safe, supportive environment where students are seen for their strengths, not their struggles—and where hope replaces exclusion.
Dr. Torres has created a Donors Choose campaign "The Last Chance Store: Where Good Choices Finally Pay Off" and would love our help in getting it funded!
Let's help give these students some positive rewards. PBIS incentives help them practice self-control, build confidence, and experience success. These small rewards reinforce positive choices and restore hope in school.

Each year, the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) conducts a survey designed to provide FDOE and the United States Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), with information on how well Florida’s schools are partnering with parents and promoting parent involvement in their child's education. The survey is open to all parents of children with an individual educational plan (IEP) receiving ESE services from preschool age through grade 12 and is not intended for parents of students receiving only gifted services through an educational plan (EP). All states must collect this data as part of their State Performance Plan, as required under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
The 2025-26 ESE Parent Survey is currently open and will close on June 15, 2026. The survey can be completed on the web or mobile phone by visiting 2025-26 ESE Parent Survey.
